SUSTAINABILITY

At Versed Aid, we care about the planet and take the following steps to minimise our impact on the environment:

All of our greeting cards and A4 prints are printed on FSC-certified board

This means that all of our greeting card and A4 card stock is certified by the UK’s Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).  In practical terms, FSC certification means that our stock is made from responsibly managed forests where trees are harvested in a manner that ensures there is no net loss of forest over time.

We do not use any special finishes on our cards or A4 prints which cannot be recycled.

All greeting cards are supplied with an eco-Kraft envelope which is made from 100% recycled, FSC-certified paper.  Although they are already made from recycled paper, they are still 100% recyclable so can be recycled again – cool huh?!

All retail card orders are fulfilled naked

If you think that means we are naked while processing your order then we couldn’t possibly comment on that ;-)

However, what we can confirm is that all retail card orders will always be supplied ‘naked’ i.e. without a cellophane wrapper or card clasp.  Some customers will recall that's how greeting cards always used to be displayed in the shops anyway and we’re pleased that the card industry is coming full circle on this by increasingly phasing out single use cellophane wrappers on cards.

As they require a backing board, our A4 prints are supplied in a cellophane wrapper.  While cellophane wrappers cannot be included in your home recycling bin, please note that it is possible to recycle cellophane and many supermarkets now have recycling points for cellophane, plastic bags and used helium balloons.  For information about where to recycle cellophane in your area (including supermarkets!), please click here

Wholesale orders are fulfilled with or without cellophane as requested

Greeting card retailers are increasingly displaying their card stock ‘naked’ i.e. without cellophane wrappers and card clasps.  However, some retailers do still prefer cello-wrapped stock to prevent damage – particularly where card stock is displayed outside on spinners, for example. If retailers order cello-wrapped stock, we respect that request but as it becomes increasingly possible to recycle cellophane, we do all that we can to educate our customers about those recycling options.

We always recycle the packaging that we receive

When we fulfil wholesale orders, we always use packaging that we have received from suppliers.  That includes the box and all protective packaging inside the box to protect the stock in transit.  For that reason, our boxes and protective packaging (which may be a mix of bubble and/or paper wrap) will have already been used.

We’re always open to ideas!

We stay open-minded to industry innovation and will always try to adopt new eco-initiatives where it is possible to do so.  If you have any queries or suggestions about the steps we currently take or could start taking, please feel free to contact us.
